PRIVACY POLICY

Last updated: 12 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Matsudai collects, uses, stores and shares your personal information when you visit or use matsudai.co.uk, place an online order, create an account, make or manage a restaurant booking, subscribe to marketing, contact us, visit our restaurant, or otherwise interact with us.

WHO WE ARE

Matsudai operates through two companies:

Matsudai at Home Ltd operates our online shop and at-home ramen business.

Matsudai Ramen Ltd operates our restaurant.

Depending on how you interact with Matsudai, one or both companies may be responsible for deciding how and why your personal information is used.

Where both companies jointly determine how particular personal information is used, they may act as joint data controllers for that processing.

For privacy enquiries or to exercise your data protection rights, please contact:

athome@matsudai.co.uk

Our contact addresses are listed at the end of this policy.

Those services have their own privacy practices, and we are not responsible for how they collect or use information.

Information you choose to post publicly or semi-publicly on third-party platforms may also be visible to other users of those platforms.

We recommend reviewing the privacy information of third-party services before providing personal information to them.

HOW LONG WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected.

The appropriate retention period depends on factors including:

  • the type of information;

  • the nature of our relationship with you;

  • whether you have an active account or subscription;

  • our legal, tax and accounting obligations;

  • whether information may be required to resolve a dispute, prevent fraud or establish or defend legal claims.

Transaction and accounting records may therefore be kept for the period required under applicable UK law.

Marketing information may be retained until you unsubscribe, withdraw consent where applicable, or we determine that it is no longer appropriate to retain it.

When information is no longer required, we will delete or anonymise it where appropriate.

INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

Some of our service providers, including Shopify and other technology providers, may process personal information outside the United Kingdom.

Where personal information is transferred internationally, we take steps to ensure that the transfer is permitted under applicable UK data protection law and that appropriate safeguards are used where required.

These may include transfers to countries recognised as providing an adequate level of protection or the use of approved contractual safeguards.

SECURITY

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure.

However, no method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Please avoid sending sensitive or confidential information to us through insecure communication channels.

CHILDREN'S INFORMATION

Our website and services are not intended specifically for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children where we do not have an appropriate lawful basis to do so.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information to us inappropriately, please contact us so that we can investigate and, where appropriate, delete it.

We may need to verify your identity before completing your request.

Your right to object

You may have the right to object to our processing of your personal information where we rely on legitimate interests.
