Today, Cardiff's Matsudai Ramen share news that they will embark on their first UK headline tour, popping up across the land through July 2021.
Formed in 2019 by self-confessed ramen geek - and "home cook who took things too far" - James Chant, Matsudai was intended as a pure creative outlet, a reaction to his building disillusionment with the music industry he'd spent his life in.
Chant embarked on a series of pop-up events throughout Matsudai’s first six months, each one selling out more quickly than the last, and along-the-way inspiring new ramen pop-ups and restaurant openings across the world, from the Philippines, to the U.S., and closer to home in the U.K.
This period culminated in a packed-out six-week residency at Cardiff's Blue Honey Local. Then COVID-19 happened and plans changed. But Matsudai continued and still continue to make friends through lockdown delivering thousands of incredible DIY ramen kits, winning the support of everyone from Jay Rayner, Tom Parker Bowles, Melissa Thompson, and even YouTube hero Uncle Roger.
Now searching for a permanent premises in Cardiff, James - true to his roots - is taking Matsudai Ramen on tour across the U.K. in July, bringing Japanese-American-inspired 'Proper Ramen' to the good people of Manchester, Bristol, Cardiff and London.
Tickets are on sale on Tuesday 29th June at 10am, with a pre-sale exclusively via the Matsudai mailing list on the same day from 8am.
